Many people's first massages are pregnancy massages. Especially late in the pregnancy, the body undergoes tremendous stress, and massage is a great way to relax and lessen chronic pain.
Because of the unique anatomical changes a pregnant person undergoes, a pregnancy massage is quite different from a typical session. Generally, the massage is done in a side-laying position to prevent pressure on the baby or constriction of major blood vessels.
While a side-laying massage is quite different from the typical prone/supine massage, it can be a very relaxing position, and grants access to muscles in a novel way that many people find very enjoyable.
